Wild About Killearn
‘Wild About Killearn’ is a community project exploring and celebrating Killearn’s natural history and wildlife
The new section of the Killearn Heritage Trail website was launched on the weekend of 26/27 April 2025 with an Open Day showing exhibitions of artwork on natural history subjects from art4you.scotland, Killearn Primary School, Strathendrick Stitchers, Killearn Natural History Photography Group, Peter Smith and others. The RSPB and Woodland Trust were there along with demonstrations of the new site and citizen science projects such as i-Naturalist. Children dressed in animal fancy dress and loved the face-painting and puppet-making!
In the afternoon people enjoyed a fascinating Guided Tour of Killearn Glen with expert local arborologist, Archie Wilson, with Nick Hawkins explaining the archaeology of our woodland gem.
The launch was completed on the Sunday evening when the Killearn Village Hall was full for a viewing of the premier of a natural history film, ‘Wildheart’, from TV producers Maramedia, followed by an absorbing discussion with local wildlife specialists.
